Bengaluru: As Bengaluru increasingly turns into a "pothole city," leading many to consider leaving the city, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has responded to the issue. Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Shivakumar emphasized the government's commitment to resolving the pothole issue, with repair work progressing rapidly. He remarked, "Let those who want to politicize the issue do so." He explained that no one deliberately creates potholes, and they occur due to excessive rainfall. He added that a report has been sought from the Police Commissioner regarding the issue, urging the public and others to cooperate in addressing the pothole problem. Shivakumar challenged the BJP, saying they can engage in as much politics as they want or even stage protests by blocking roads. He pointed out that each BJP MLA was allocated Rs. 25 crore for their constituencies, yet questioned why pothole repair work has not been completed. He urged BJP leaders to focus on their responsibilities before indulging in politics."We are working for the convenience of the people, not engaging in politics.
